Ken and I have over twenty years of combined experience in the military. After fifteen moves in as many years, we realize the importance of finding local businesses you can trust. Moving, in and of itself, is stressful enough. Unfortunately, it is usually accompanied by the added challenge of finding a new mechanic, hairdresser, doctor, dentist, and other service providers. I joined the mortgage industry after serving eight years as an Air Traffic Controller in the Navy and three years as a CPA preparing small business and individual tax returns. These were industries which required the highest levels of education, accountability, and fiduciary responsibility. It was a great surprise to learn that loan officers could have little or no financial education and still advise and place families in the largest purchase of their lives, a home mortgage. It took six years to complete a Masters of Taxation and obtain a CPA license. How much of a financial education would you want your loan officer to have prior to placing you in a mortgage? In an age where lenders and loan products are becoming increasingly sophisticated, it is imperative for the traditional loan officer to reinvent himself as a financial and mortgage expert. We set a new level of service by hiring and training financial experts to serve our clients in this fascinating and dynamic industry
