 I started looking for a home in September 2004.  At that time I was “pre-qualified” by an outside lender to buy a condo.  I started the paperwork and began the loan process.  However, a few questions began arising in my mind when I actually began talking to the loan officer’s assistant.  She discussed with me what kind of income I was making and informed me that I would have my income stated.  Huh, I thought?  I was reassured that my great credit score was more then enough reason to state that I made almost $4,000 more a month than I actually did.  Being an inexperienced buyer I wanted a second opinion and also wanted to make sure it was legal to sign something that said I made such a large amount of money every month. 

That’s when I found Military Home Programs.  After reviewing my budget, credit, and income, they encouraged me to cancel my contract for the condo.  They explained to me the way that pre-qualifications can be misleading and how it is easier to buy a house then to keep one.  This information led me to the decision to wait until I was certain I could handle a house payment of this size.
